The following is from the girlygirl P.A.R.T.S. website:

“Ovarian cancer is one of the most deadly cancers, in part because the symptoms are so vague. It was diagnosed in more than 21,000 women in the United States in 2012 and killed more than 15,000. Although ovarian cancer is a relatively rare disease, it touches many lives – husbands, children, parents, brothers, sisters and friends. Unfortunately, due to its subtle symptoms and rarity, most women know little or nothing about ovarian cancer.

Whether you already have ovarian cancer, know someone who does, or have been fortunate thus far not to have been touched by this disease, knowledge about it is a powerful tool for you. We encourage all women to learn about this disease, and to tell their family, friends and co-workers. Due to the almost silent nature of its symptoms, it is said that ovarian cancer whispers. This is why it is important for all of us to know what to listen for and how to listen. girlygirl P.A.R.T.S has raised over 130,000 for the research in ovarian cancer at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.”
